I grew up (as much as I’ve ever grown up) in Princeton, NJ. I have lived most of my life in and around Princeton. I attended college in Wisconsin and Vermont. I spent my “hippy” years in Vermont, going to school, playing in a couple of rock bands and generally just hanging out. My friends accuse me of being a pseudo hippy since I was on a retainer from my summer job and had to travel back to NJ about monthly to correct and/or write new code for a system I wrote that summer. I have three brothers (I am the oldest). ). I got my pilot’s license in 1971 and instrument rating in 1973. I bought, with a partner, my fist airplane in 1973. Briefly flirted with racing cars in 1972; raced formula fords in Canada. I was remarkably mediocre. I was introduced to sailing in 1975 by a housemate from VT. I found that I enjoyed cruising sailing and was pretty good at it. I started playing rugby in 1975 which I played till 2014. I got married in 1985. We met flying and as it turns out, that was about the only thing we had in common. Our son was born in 1988 and daughter in 1990. Son is a pilot in the Navy and daughter is a master paddleboard instructor. The first 20 years was great, but as the kids got older and more independent, our differences became more apparent. We were divorced in 2015. After I got to Virginia and settled into my son’s studio apartment, I started volunteering at the Virginia Beach SPCA. They offered, and I accepted, a part time job as an animal care technician, in March of that year. I became full time in September of that year. I started in the kennel but was moved to the cattery in a few months (I think because I have no allergies and many staff members have an allergic reaction to cats). I left there in January and started at the NEX in March. That should bring you up to date. As you may be able to tell, I am a horrible writer …. I am better as a raconteur. interested?
